New Members Appointed to the Panel on Research Ethics
February 27, 2023
The Panel on Research Ethics (PRE) is pleased to welcome three new members. Drawn from across the country, each of these accomplished individuals brings a fresh perspective on the ethics of human research in Canada. The breadth of their combined experience will advance PRE's ongoing work on policy initiatives. Chaired by Dr. Conrad Fernandez, PRE develops, interprets, and supports education around the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans or "TCPS 2 (2022)", on behalf of Canada's three federal research agencies – CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC.
The following PRE members were appointed by the Presidents of the Agencies effective January 3, 2023:

- Kelly Bannister is co-Director of POLIS Project on Ecological Governance and a Research Associate at the Centre for Global Studies of the University of Victoria. Dr. Bannister brings valuable experience and knowledge in developing research ethics policies involving Indigenous communities, including Chapter 9 of TCPS 2.
